I like #heterosexualprideday.
Let us straight cisgender people take a moment to show how proud we are of the institutionalized discrimination we’ve created for our LGBT+ brothers and sisters.
Let us be proud that we have overcome nothing in as a group to receive the treatment we have because we’re heterosexual.
Let’s celebrate the fact that there are hetero people still fighting in this country to keep the right to marry, serve in the armed forces, use a particular bathroom, have a wedding cake made, etc etc etc away from our LGBT+ friends and family.
Let’s be proud that we’re so full of ourselves and unwilling to have a little empathy that we created the hashtag heterosexualprideday.
We don’t need a pride day because we haven’t overcome anything. Be fortunate that you’re straight and cisgender, but also be supportive of #gaypride.
Want some examples of why Gay Pride Month is a thing?
There are countless examples of hatred and discrimination against the LGBT community. All you have to do is look at what is trending on Facebook or Twitter, or look at the news in any given day. Although things may be significantly better now, there is still the fear of harm, discrimination, and even death on a daily basis in the lives of LGBT individuals.
So, let’s get rid of this HeterosexualPrideDay crap and be proud of the things that we have had to overcome. #gaypride #poliofreepride #bipedalspeciespride
